This weekend went by so fast. I feel like I really didn’t have much of a weekend at all. I’m used to being able to get stuff done and relax a little, but being out of town really throws that all out of whack. Two of my very close friends live in the Twin Cities, so every once in a while, I make the 4.5 hour trip out there to visit. It’s always a good time, but the drive is killer, and it just eats up so much of the weekend. Plus, it gets boring, and when I get bored, I snack. The solution would be to either not buy anything to snack on or to get something healthier, and I have every intention of doing that. However, when I stop to get gas and go in to use the restroom, I always see something that looks too tasty to pass up, and then of course you have to have a little variety in your snacks, but you promise yourself you’re only going to eat a little bit and save the rest for later… Right…
On the way there, I bought some chocolate, and a bag of combos. When I got up to the register, they also had some really fresh looking cheese curds which I hadn’t had in forever, so I threw some of those in for good measure. In no time I had all the chocolate gone, and half the bag of combos. I’d like to say that I only ate half the bag because I had some self control, but that’s not really the case… See below for why I only had half… The cheese curds were kind of messy, so I didn’t eat too many of them.
Why yes I did take that picture while I was driving. Thank you for appreciating my artistic talent. Don’t worry, I just held the phone up and held the shutter button down, so it took about 50 pictures, and I hoped that one of them turned out. Seriously though… I was trying to open the bag at the seam so it wouldn’t rip and spill Combos all over the place. It opened really hard, and then just sort of exploded. They were all over down by my feet, on the passenger seat, under the seats… I laughed for probably a good 5 minutes at the ridiculousness of it.
Anyway, when I got to my friend’s house, I unloaded my stuff, and we talked for a little bit and then decided to go for a walk. I got some fitness minutes in for the day, but it wasn’t nearly enough to make up for my junk food binge on the way there. Then to top it off, I wanted to go to this Thai restaurant we went to the last time I was there because they seriously have some of the best Thai food I have ever tasted. We split two curries, and they were both about 2,500 calories with rice and everything… no joke… I really wish I would have looked it up before eating so I could have portioned some out and saved the rest. It was amazing though.
I always love it when I take out my phone and take pictures of my food before I eat. I always get a few looks from people like what a hipster instagramming her food before eating it… I always want to be like it’s for my blog, ease up… Lol. Anyway, it was delicious, and I should really learn to make it at home in a lightened up version. Hmmm… maybe I will…
Saturday was pretty relaxed. I got to sleep in for a bit, and then I spent the morning with my friend’s fiance. I didn’t really know her very well before, but I got to know her a bit better this weekend which was good since she’s marrying one of my closest friends. Then that afternoon they had their housewarming/birthday/engagement party which was the whole reason I was there this weekend. It was pretty fun.
At first I felt really awkward because I didn’t know anyone, and the only people that were there were friends of my friend’s fiance, and I didn’t really know what to talk about with them, so I kind of hung off to the side and picked at the food. After a little while, some of my friend’s coworkers showed up, and I felt like I had a bit more to talk about with them because we could at least talk about my friend. Plus he was there talking to them, so that helped a bit too. I really wish I wasn’t so socially awkward…
Then yesterday morning, I met my other friend from the area for breakfast before heading back home. We were roommates in college, and we don’t talk too much, but when we do, it always feels like we pick up right where we left off the last time. It’s so great to have friends like that! After catching up with her for a bit, I headed back home. Again, I kind of made some poor choices when I stopped for gas. I went inside to get some water and came back out with chocolate and a rice crispy bar. I didn’t realize until about 30 minutes later that I didn’t get my water…
I had the pup with me this weekend, so I had to stop a second time to let him out on the way home. The place I stopped at had a McDonald’s attached to it, and I was legitimately hungry, so I went inside to get my water that I forgot earlier and grabbed some fries too. I certainly could have made a better choice to satisfy my hunger, but I also could have made a worse one…
By the time I got home last night, I was exhausted! It’s amazing what being stuck in a car all day will do to you! To top it off, it’s been so cold the past few days that the temperature in my apartment has dropped quite a bit too. I don’t want to turn the heat on until I have to, so I’ve been suffering through it, and it was so tempting to curl up on my couch with my electric blanket. I was very tempted to skip my financial peace class, but I made myself go anyway. It was a pretty good class, so I’m glad I didn’t skip. I went to bed pretty early last night though and felt tired all day today! I did do a lot better with my choices today though, and I even got outside for a walk in the feels like 30 degree weather. I think my week is off to a good start!
Since it’s Workout Schedule Monday…
- Monday-30 minute walk
- Tuesday-30 minute walk
- Wednesday-30 minute swim
- Thursday-30 minute swim
- Friday-30 minute walk
- Saturday-30 minute swim
- Sunday-30 minute walk
As I said last week, I’m not swimming on the day before my weigh in anymore because it throws my weight off so much. I want to start swimming Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, but this week I needed to get home and get some stuff done tonight, so I’m switching my Monday swim to Thursday.
What are you doing to meet your goals this week?
